To assess the efficacy of the anti-estrogens tamoxifen and raloxifen in the medical management of persistent pubertal & Hormone induced gynecomastia.

GYNECOMASTIA STUDY
Retrospective chart review of 48 consecutive patients with persistent pubertal & Hormone induced gynecomastia within endocrine clinic . Patients received 3- to 9-month course of an estrogen receptor modifier (tamoxifen or raloxifene).
GYNECOMASTIA STUDY RESULTS
Mean treated with gynecomastia for duration of 12 months. Mean reduction in breast nodule diameter after treatment with tamoxifen and with raloxifene. Some improvement was seen in 86% of patients receiving tamoxifen and in 91% receiving raloxifene, but a greater proportion had a significant decrease (52%) with raloxifene than tamoxifen (41%). No side effects were seen in any patients.
GYNECOMASTIA STUDY CONCLUSION
Inhibition of estrogen receptor action in the breast appears to be safe and effective in reducing persistent pubertal & Hormone induced gynecomastia, with a better response to raloxifene than to tamoxifen.
Conclusion. Inhibition of estrogen receptor action in the breast appears to be safe and effective in reducing persistent gynecomastia, with A BETTER RESPONSE TO RALOXIFENE THAN TO TAMOXIFEN. Further study is required to determine and gather more information, for Bodybuilding and steroid use that has lead to the onset of gynecomastia Raloxifene its a great alternative to Tamoxifen
Tamoxifen is more wideley used as raloxifene is harder to come by.
